THE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF SADEP-GHANA
* To tackle social and environmental problems confronting our nation by raising awareness among the population .

* To help deprived people in the rural communities on undertake development projects.

* To educate the local people in skills that will enable self-reliance leading to poverty reduction and advancement/social development.

* To inculcate into the youth the spirit and the concept of voluntarism.

* To sustain and to promote the Ghanaian culture by creating culture exchange between Ghanaians and the rest of the

 
world through voluntory workcamps and other exchange programmes e.g. Expediction, drumming and dancing lessons and host family.

AREA OF OPERATIONS

* Education and Training Projects:- SADEP undertakes the building of primary and vocational schools ,and providing educational facilities to the deprived communities in order to train the youth in employable skills and also to reduce the level of illiteracy in our society.

* Agriculture and Food Security:- SADEP aims at establishing demonstration camps or farms to educate farmers about organic farming techniques , including the use of appropriate technology in an environmental friendly methods. It also provides farming inputs and assistance to farming groups to improve on their production thus helping reduce food insecurity and malnutrition in the rural communities.

* Environment and Eco–Tourism:- Many communities in Ghana suffer from severe erosion , wind destruction and poor rainfalls due to indiscriminate removal of trees. SADEP has plans to increase sustainable fuel production (ie. Creation of wood logs for cooking) through efficient use of the natural resources by establishing nursery units or camps and environmental clubs , in strategically placed schools and communities to serve as supply base of seedlings as well as resource points for schools and communities interested in the protection of the environment in general.

SADEP also undertake projects in the area of Eco-tourism through expeditions annually by identifying and collaborating with communities that lack the basic knowledge and skills in protecting and developing these natural tourism potentials , such as ( water bodies , Historic caves , water falls ,mountains forest and water carnal) etc.

* Income Generating Projects:-These take various forms and are designed for people (youth) to receive training in skills and provided with the essential materials /capital for the start of their projects , this eventually will lead to economic empowerment . SADEP also support groups and community initiated projects especially women oriented ones.

* Running of Exchange Programmes:- In the areas of work camps , Expeditions , culture , and Host parenting . Apart from the Host parenting programme which runs through out the year, the rest are organized only in summer and winter . Participants must insure themselves before arriving in Ghana. SADEP should be notified 7days ahead of the arrival of the participants . Volunteers should arrived 2days before the star of the programmes. Volunteers from non English speaking country like Italy , Spain and Asia will have the opportunity to learn and improve on their basic English language .

* Health:- Periodically the organization educate communities on the HIV/AIDS and other dangerious diseases affecting our society. It also supply basic drugs and health facilities in the rural communities.

* Qualification:- Persons with sound mind and of good health both professionals and non- professionals.

The participation fee charged for all the exchange programmes cares for the following; AND IS NOT REFUNDABLE.

ALL ITEMS FOR CAMPING UNDER WORKCAMPS ARE NEEDED FOR ALL THE EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES

* FUNDING- Funding of SADEP-Ghana is mainly sourced from the annual dues of members, the participation fees of the exchange programmes organized, donations from friends, sympathizers and sister organizations.

* ACCREDITATION AND AFFILIATIONS- The organization is registered as a Non Governmental Organization and incorporated under the company code of 1963 (Acts 179) by the Registrar General Department of Ghana under the name of SOLIDARITY FOR AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT. The Ho District Assembly, Volta Regional Association of N.G.O.s (VORANGO) and the Department of Social Welfare which is the authorize body monitoring all the NGOs in Ghana under the Ministry of Social Welfare. SADEP-GHANA has sister organizations in ITALY, ENGLAND and GERMANY. It also has representative in Canada.
