INTERNATIONAL WORKCAMPS
- SADEP'S yearly international workcamp like
any of her cultural exchange programmes are organised
in both summer and winter, it is aimed at bringing
the youth of the world to learn, share ideas and experiences
and to enhance culture diversity.The Workcamps serves
as an opportunity for the youth to use their leisure
time profitably on projects in poor communities to
reduce poverty. The workcamp last for between 2 to
3 weeks depending on the nature of the projects.
Workcamps are also organized for individuals groups
of Six (6) and above for a specific period of time
upon the request of the group. This people can form
themselves into a group from Universities, High Schools,
Colleges, Churches, Social Clubs, Youth Clubs and
Friends. etc.
The first 2 days of arrival is used to orientate volunteers
as regards to camp life, the community, projects,
the cultural differences and the SADEP'S administration. |

Volunteers are normally housed in school buildings or
houses within the local communities. However volunteers
who wish to bring their own tents are welcome. 20 - 24 volunteers
are the average number for each camp. As usual the working
hours is six (6) daily. Saturdays and Sundays are the non
working days which are used for sightseeing in the communities
and their environs organised by the camps or individuals.
Arrival and Departure SADEP should be informed by the participants
of their arrival time 4 - 7 days (1 week) ahead, for them
to be picked from and to the airport. Volunteers should
arrived at least 2 days before the start of the camps for
personal and organizational convenience.

NAME OF COMMUNITY : AGORMEDA
DISTRICT : DANGBE WEST
REGION : GREATER ACCRA
PROJECT : PLASTERING OF A PRIMARY SCHOOL BUILDING

DESCRIPTION OF COMMNUNITY
Agormeda is a small community with a population of about a thousand people who are mainly farmers and petty traders. It is located at the basin of the Akuapim Mountains the largest and one of the nicest in Ghana, found on the Western part of Accra and has the shia mountains which is sighted within the shia game reserve at the north eastern side. Agormeda is about 20km drive from Accra with many cultural background and Gadangbe is the language spoken.

NAME OF COMMUNITY : KITASE
DISTRICT : AKUAPIM SOUTH
PROJECT : PAINTING OF HOSTEL FOR SADEP VOLUNTEERS

DESCRIPTION OF COMMUNITY
Kitase is about 25 minutes drive from the Airport and located right on top of the Akuapim mountains. Fruit farming are their number one occupation with a few into petty trading. The traditional area is one of the few that has and celebrate many festivals in the month of August every year. It also has good weather like that of some parts of Europe and America in the summer. The district also has a waterfall and one of the oldest botanical gardens in Africa. The languages spoken by the people are Akan.

NAME OF COMMUNITY : TEFLE

DESCRIPTION OF COMMUNITY
Tefle is about 11/2 hours drive from Accra. It has the largest man made lake flowing through one of the largest wetlands in Ghana in the southern part of the Volta Region. The language the people speak is Ewe, the community like most in Ghana accommodate people of many culture backgrounds. Petty trading, farming and fishing are the main occupation undertaken by the people.

PROJECT : PAINTING OF DORMITORY FOR THE SCHOOL OF THE BLIND

DESCRIPTION OF COMMUNITY
Located on top of the Akuapim mountains. It has it different features at ones sight when viewing this includes the mountain itself, vallies, forest and water bodies eg: waterfalls. The people speak Akan, one of Ghana’s most spoken languages. They are mostly farmers and traders of all kinds. The district also has some of the oldest church buildings built by the missionaries in the 20th centuries.

CULTURE CAMPS FOR SUMMER

DISTRICT : DANGBE WEST
REGION : GREATER ACCRA
PROJECT : TEACHING AND LEARNING OF DRUMMING AND DANCING

DESCRIPTION OF COMMUNITY
The community is about 45 minutes drive from Accra. The people speak Dangbe, salt mining and vegetable farming is their occupation. The biggest game reserve park in south Ghana is located here. On the south eastern part is the sea and not too far from the harbour city of Ghana Tema.

NB: As part of the programme participants will be taken to some selected tourist destination to enable them enjoy their stay in Ghana and the programme as well. |

THE USE OF THE PARTICIPATION
FEE:
a) . ADMINISTRATION:- Surveying of camps , programmes ,staff
allowances, stationery, communication and others.
b). ACCOMODATION AND FEEDING:- Lodging upon the arrival
of the volunteers from their home countries and feeding
before and during camping periods.
c). EXCURSIONS (TOURS):- Visiting of some selected tourist
attractions.
d). TRANSPORTATION:- Conveying the volunteers on their arrival
and departure to the Airport as well as to and from the
camps.
The participation fee is paid on arrival
by the volunteers in Ghana and NOT REFUNDABLE.
